Through June: Contractors working on improvements to Bird Road will be repaving. Work between Douglas Road and Le Jeune Road will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Between Le Jeune Road and Granada Boulevard, work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be no closures during school zone hours. From Granada Boulevard to Red Road, work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. One traffic lane will be closed at a time during the hours of construction. Drivers can expect delays. Pedestrians and cyclists should take care when traveling through area. Please avoid the area during the morning and evening rush hours.

Crews will close one westbound lane on Bird Road Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The eastbound lanes of Bird Road will not be affected. Drivers may experience delays in the area. Pedestrians and cyclists should be cautious when traveling through the construction zone.
Through August: The Florida Department of Transportation is adding sidewalks on Bird Road between Riviera Drive and Red Road. If necessary, crews may close a westbound lane of Bird Road from 9a.m. to 3:30p.m., Monday through Friday. At least one westbound lane will remain open at all times and eastbound traffic should not be affected. If you experience delays, please use alternate routes.
September 25: The Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival will affect traffic in the area of Merrick Park. Biltmore Way and Andalusia Avenue from Le Jeune Road to Hernando Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to midnight. Please avoid the area.
October 1 – 2: Art in the Park returns to the Fred B. Hartnett Ponce Circle Park, 2810 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Although there will be no lane closures, please take great care when travelling through the area between 7 p.m. and midnight as there will be extra traffic and hundreds of pedestrians crossing the boulevard into the park.
October 3: A 5K race at the University of Miami may affect traffic in the area. The race will take place around the campus from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Runners/walkers will exit the campus briefly to run on Ponce de Leon Boulevard for a mile. Police will be present to control traffic. There will be no lane closures. Please use caution when driving through the area.
October 23: Waterway Renaissance will be holding its second Gables to the Bay Regatta. The race starts at South Dixie Highway and Riviera at 8 a.m. Take extra care when driving through area as there will be more pedestrian traffic.
October 30: The Rohto IronMan 70.3 Miami event will affect traffic in southern portions of Coral Gables. The bicycle portion of the race enters the City at approximately 8a.m. through Douglas Road and Edgewater Drive and proceeds south down Old Cutler Road, leaving the City limits at Red Road and Lugo Avenue at approximately 1 p.m. Please avoid the area or use alternates. November 5: The University of Miami’s Homecoming and Alumni weekend festivities includes a parade that will affect a portion of Ponce de Leon Boulevard in the area of the University. There will be only intermittent lane closures between the hours of 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
November 6: The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network will be holding a 2 mile walk that starts at Merrick Park in front of City Hall at 9 a.m. The walk, which involves small children, will close Biltmore Way from Le Jeune Road to Hernando Street. Police will close the streets bordering the eastern portion of the Granada Golf Course intermittently. All streets will reopen by 12 p.m.

Coral Way from Red Road to Segovia Street: Miami-Dade County will begin resurfacing Coral Way in May. The milling and resurfacing will take place on weekdays after the morning rush hour and shortly before the evening rush hour. Any curbing, drainage and sidewalk issues will be addressed. Bird Road: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a roadway enhancement project on Bird Road (S.W. 40th Street) between Red Road (S.W. 57th Avenue) and S.W. 38th Avenue. All work around residential areas from Red Road to LeJeune Road will be performed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with lane closures occurring daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work around the industrial area from LeJeune Road to S.W. 38th Avenue will have extended hours during the day and night and requires lane closures daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and nightly from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday lane closures will occur from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Access to businesses, bus stops and residential areas will be maintained at all times. Work should be complete by the end of September.
